Inspiration

I was inspired to create this project because I had already developed several Unity games before, mostly horror-themed, some featuring dinosaurs. When I heard about the contest, I analyzed the existing dinosaur experiences on Meta and realized I could make something more engaging and immersive. I wanted to build a space that would truly capture the magic of seeing dinosaurs up close in VR.

What it does

Dino Park is a relaxing virtual reality experience where players can explore a detailed dinosaur park and observe 15 realistic species in their natural habitats. It’s designed to be an enjoyable and educational space, especially for younger dinosaur fans who can also talk and interact about their favorite creatures inside the experience.

How we built it

The project was created using Unity and optimized for Meta Horizon’s platform. The dinosaurs were modeled and animated with a focus on realism and scale, while the park environment was designed to feel natural and immersive, with ambient sounds and lighting enhancing the atmosphere

Challenges we ran into

Time was the biggest challenge. I wanted to add more interactive elements—like NPCs and mini-games—but couldn’t complete them within the deadline. Performance optimization in VR was also a key challenge, especially maintaining smooth framerates with detailed models.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud of creating an immersive VR experience that feels alive and sparks curiosity about prehistoric life. The park successfully combines visual realism with a calm, educational atmosphere that both kids and adults can enjoy.

What we learned

I learned a lot about VR optimization, user experience design for immersive environments, and the importance of balancing performance with visual detail. I also gained valuable insight into what captivates Meta Horizon’s audience.

What's next for Dino Park

In the future, I plan to add NPCs, interactive mini-games, and voice-guided tours to make the park feel more dynamic. These features will help bring the world to life and make Dino Park an even richer experience for visitors.
