Inspiration

We recognise the usage of public transport in London as a difficulty for those with disabilities and neurodivergence. Loud noises, flashing lights, and inaccessibility can hinder individuals from daily tasks and significantly reduce life quality. Disabusity addresses specific issues of the London transportation network and offers a calm, accessible, and welcoming alternative to the London Metro. Our bus rides are accompanied by white noise, tinted windows, and wheelchair ramps, ensuring a frictionless and peaceful journey through the busy streets of London.

What it does

The London transportation system is not very inclusive. The volume frequently surpasses 90 decibels and can be difficult to handle for passengers with sensitivities. In the long run, these constant triggers result in hesitations to use public transportation and significantly limits life quality. Similarly, many train stops are not entirely wheelchair accessible and therefore create additional difficulties for individuals with disabilities. We aim to foster an inclusive community by eliminating those barriers and establishing a friendly alternative to current public transport.

How we built it

Using Lego, curiosity and creativity, all with inclusivity in mind.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing the lifting structure.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Working towards an inclusive transportation network. Also, building a nice Lego structure.

What we learned

How to use gears, how to prototype properly.

What's next for Disabusity

Replacing outdated and exclusive Bus lines with quiet, peaceful experiences.
