Inspiration💡

The current market crash made us very conscious of investments which gave us an idea to gamify the exchange in a convenient form (A discord bot!)

What it does❓

The bot gives each new member 100k to trade however they please. The bot records any purchases and sales made and gives the user a look into their portfolio

How we built it🏗️

We used the discord.py python library in the creation of the bot. We used Finnhub for stock market API which gave us real-time insights into various stocks. Finally, we used CockroachDB to save all of the collected data into a cloud database

Challenges we ran into🚧

The main challenge was orchestrating the development process. Working together on the same codebase is difficult, especially when you are just getting comfortable with GIT.

Accomplishments that we're proud of🏆

We are proud of the bot. It has great functionality and I would personally love to use it with my friends

What we learned🙋‍♂️

We have learnt how to code a discord bot, use financial APIs, save toa cluster of distributed databases and cooperate efficiently

What's next for DiscordInvest💭

Next is leaderboards where you can compare yourself to your friends or other members of the server, analytics to give you investment advice, and relevant news that might affect your trading strategy.
