Inspiration
Going out to eat with friends is always a great time, but having to figure out at the end who will pay and how much each person owes for what always kills the mood. We wanted to figure out a way to make this process easier, so we came up with the idea of DivvyUp.
What it does
DivvyUp allows you to scan your receipt and split the bill based on item or total, depending on what you want. You can select different things and assign them to different people, then send a Venmo or Zelle request straight from the list. DivvyUp is a fast, convenient way for social payments between friends and peers, so you can spend more time catching up with colleagues and friends.
How we built it
We built this using AWS, Veryfi, React, MUI and VSCode.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with connecting the APIs with the web service but were able to figure it out in the end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of how we used the resources available to us, and how well we used them.
What we learned
We ended up spending a lot of time on things that weren't as important, so in the future, we will be more diligent and use our time more efficiently.
What's next for DivvyUp
We believe DivvyUp has incredible potential as an app, and hope to develop it in the future.
