What it does
Generates list of documents required for a shipment depending on cargo, source and destination ports. Checks existing documentation for unfilled form fields.
How we built it
Node.js + Express.js front-end + python ML backend.
Challenges I ran into
Due to privacy challenges, unable to work with large data set of real-world documents. Difficulty to understand the extend of various regulatory environments within a span of less than 36 hours.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Helping to streamline shipping process and reduce costs by insuring essential shipping documents are properly filled.
What I learned
How to validate a problem by talking with industry experts. How to work together under a time crunch. How to work with new python and Node.js APIs.
What's next for Doc-it
Shift to Amazon Textract for a more sophisticated and efficient ML pipeline. Incorporate additional content and workflows. Impact the global shipping industry's efficiency.
