Inspiration:

We were interested in the effects of AI on diversity, equity, and inclusion. There's great potential in using technology in the medical field, especially in poor or rural areas. Additionally, mental health is a major topic of discussion among college students.

What it does:

It provides a way for patients to track medicine usage, record symptoms or side effects, and communicate with their doctor or a chatbot. Doctors can use this app to receive coherent patient records and ask more insightful questions.

How we built it:

This app has a React frontend and a Node.js backend. CSS handles the styling. The OpenAI API powers the chatbot, MongoDB stores patient data, and Auth0 manages authentication.

Challenges we ran into:

As it was our first time (or a while) using some of these tools, we faced challenges with debugging and implementing complex features, which took more time than expected.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We worked well as a team and gained many new skills in a short time. Though there’s room for improvement, we’re proud of the idea and the current implementation.

What we learned:

We learned a lot about full-stack web development, avoided beginner mistakes, and discovered our potential to quickly learn new concepts.

What's next for DocuWell:

Future improvements include enhancing the chatbot and creating better connectivity between patients and doctors.
