Inspiration
During the pandemic, many of us turned to reading, cooking, playing sports, or even learning a new instrument. For musicians, page turns have been one of the bigger issues, both with paper music, and digital pdfs. As part of the Studio Track for DubHacks this year, we prototyped the app “easy play” in order to better facilitate peoples’ learning and help people enjoy making music!
What it does
Our app revolutionizes the way we turn pages, with various options for hands-free page turns for musicians of all backgrounds.
How we built it
Using Figma we have created a fully interactive prototype of our app, as well as using Create React App to showcase our voice recognition function in a simulated page turn.
Challenges we ran into and accomplishments we're proud of
Beginning this challenge, our team had very little practical coding experience, and so our project presented a steep learning curve for all of us. However, we came out of this with a well-thought-out idea and an original project with a clear path ahead.
What we learned
Throughout this project, we learned how to conceptualize an idea, and how to translate it to code. More specifically, we learned to use Figma to build an interactive prototype, how to write certain features into a code format, and how to implement APIs into an original single-page app on React.
What's next for easy play
We will finish back-end development and make sure the app is fully functional. Next, we will expand our vision, focusing on greater user account security, as well as a social media aspect, allowing users to connect over their shared love of music. In the future, we hope that we can use this app to increase the accessibility of digital materials to those who may need other ways to turn their pages.
