Inspiration

I have realized how difficult and important it is for a women to maintain their health and hygiene. In a similar fashion, it is as equally difficult to maintain the health of the environment. My aim is to tackle these both problems with one digital solution that will allow women to not only improve their health hygiene but also do it in such a way that it is healthier to the environment.

What it does

EcoCare allows girls all over the US to find a eco friendly alternatives for their period related supplies such as Menstrual Underwear, Heat Patch etc. Users can search for variety of these products, add it to their cart and shop online at a fairly cheaper rate. These products not only benefits the environment, but also improves the menstrual health of a woman.

How we built it

I built it using ReactJS, Firebase, NodeJS and Stripe API. React and CSS was used to design and build the frontend. The backend was built using NodeJS and FireStore. Stripe was used for Payment and the application is deployed using Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

  • Deciding between Postgres and FireStore for database
  • Collecting data to find these items
  • Integration with Stripe API for payment processing

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I was able to complete the frontend and also get it deployed working solo. I am also very proud of the fact that this app is built towards women health and hygiene by keeping environment healthy at the same time.

What's next for Eco Care

This app can be turned up into a full fledged eco friendly health and hygiene app which will guide the unknowns about general facts and can raise awareness in the society. Women can share any experiences or questions with others related to eco friendly menstrual habits through the app platform.
