Inspiration

We were inspired by WAForge's Carbon Emission statistics. We wanted to help people make better decisions for the environment, so we created this app.

What it does

An app that tells you the different carbon emission amounts for different travel methods, by inputting the starting and ending destination.

How we built it

Framework: React (JSX) frontend + JS backend . We also utilized the GoogleMaps Javascript API and Google Maps Directions API​

Challenges we ran into

We ran into trouble implementing the drop down menu as well with the hardest part was implementing the GoogleMaps Direction API and GoogleMaps Javascript API

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of how easily a user can input a starting and ending destination to get the end result.

What we learned

We learned how to use a REACT(jsx) framework, and learned how to implement the GoogleMaps Direction API and GoogleMaps Javascript API

What's next for EcoVoyage

Implement more specific features like different car types, and their rental prices​, Implement leaderboard so you can compare price as well as carbon emissions with other users​, and offer a dashboard where users can track their total carbon footprint over time, based on the vehicles they rent and how often they use them.​
