Inspiration
Elex was inspired by DND, specifically the dungeon-delving aspect of it.
What it does
Though greatly simplified it follows the basic route that any player would follow when; making their character, adventuring, and dealing with combat encounters.
How we built it
Our team lives in the same dorm and used VS Code Live Share to share the workspace with each other. We planned a general list of classes, variables, and features for the game and then started coding away!
Challenges we ran into
We designed the back-end before the front end, which resulted in us needing to revamp a bit of the back-end code to accommodate for the front end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to make a pretty complex game, or at least most aspects of it, in a short time span.
What we learned
We learned a lot about programming logic, objects, and inheritance, plus a bit of JSwing for some of us.
What's next for Elex
Elex will be used as an example for the backend of another game we're planning on making, codenamed IGN for "Insert Game Name". IGN is already in development but has been coming along slowly as it's going to be using tools like UE4 to produce it.
