Inspiration
Inspired by the stories of people struggling financially or through mental health struggles not being given a fair boost for a second chance at life to get out of a rough patch. The RavenDB resources helped me expand on this idea. From scrubs to business suits we are here to style and dress you to journey to your next job. I am competing in three hackathons at once and decided to build the backend for this challenge, another for an AI Assistant and another for my favorite front end. I believe in balance and zen when I work. I chose the smartest way to get the core flows out in the most elegant fashion.
What it does
Of course it track orders, but it is a system ready for user engagement to refresh the community!
Orders: Track your orders and keep up to date what is coming in and out the store and services provided.
User Management: Track a user's progress and sending daily motivational information and help or ways you may help others.
Spatial Check-ins Tracker: Track your users progress to professional greatness by attending approved workshops and networking events similar to how you would file for unemployment except this is with events recording your location with uploaded photos.
Job Reports Inventory List: Speaking of unemployment depending on the user you would be required to report 2 jobs a week to earn points towards your new suit or professional gear.
Premium Brands Product Inventory: Inventory of our best suit provided by major brands like Lord & Taylor, Macys, The Loft, New York & Company, Belk, Dillards, and JCPenney.
Online Marketplace: Donations for sale! Use your points or use our AI assistant to find the perfect look for you based on your work environment, business goals and dress code.
Exclusive Rentals: Only available to certain users with an urgent need. Invite only. Rent a suit don't be dressed down because you couldn't afford a suit! Get that job you want! Present that presentation with your best look!
Point Verification Management: Points aren't just given their is an approval process and we reach out for more information when needed to verify that person contacted that job or went to that event to improve their professional career.
Points and Rewards System Management and Inventory: A list of how many points you can earn for doing an action requested as a trade transaction. Also another document list the range of rewards the customer may be eligible for. For instance, you earn 5 points for every job you report and an Ann Taylor Suit is available for 100 points. They can have an ENTIRE suit just by applying for jobs and getting back on their feet.
Local Resource Management: We aren't just providing professional assistance I would like to work with local therapist to ensure their is mental wellness for our users. The user will be given a list of therapist they may go to get help if needed for trauma or just general check-ins. You never know what people are going through.
Mentor List: There will be coaches available and assigned to call every two weeks. All coaches are volunteers with a passion for fashion and prospering of course.
External Widget Embed Users: Say a blogger or magazine wants to participate, they can have a widget made to post on their website to raise awareness and bring in more users, donations and business.
Social Commerce Omni Channels CMS: A simple area to track and automate posts for the entire store only available for admin owners of the Buttoned Up organization.
Generated Reports: Reports that help customers and business perspective that share the insights found about the less visible gap in our country the less fortunate. Learn how to become a better business or professional career man or woman.
Knowledge Base Training for Styling App "Shoe-in": Provides datasets to better train our AI stylist built with AWS party rock. All input data must be approved by customer prior to sending to knowledge base.
Content Management System: Resource center with note taking prompts for a journal, courses, white papers, reports, articles, links and previously recorded videos.
Business Cards QR code Inventory: For get checking in with a field, check in with a QR code with our sponsored events and appointments. Free styling with an even you found? Share your business card with others in a small mobile format. You got this.
Donations Inquiry Inventory: This is where all the donations will be checked for quality, managed, sorted, posted and shipped.
Affiliate Marketing Inventory: Keep track of promo codes or items that are on sale in a flash sale for a premium brand that was never worn.
Live Shopping Embedded Links List: We use virtual events to host workshops with shoppable intermissions.
Brick and Mortar In-Person Client Relations: Track projects and leads on this backend dashboard and see what kind of foot track is coming in for suiting or business casual.
Fitting Management and Inventory: Fitting is very important for professionalism and one of the biggest issues in the fashion industry with high return rates. What better way to lean into this issue than a document dedicated to fittings.
Shipping: Keeping track of orders, trails and returns.
Account Settings: See User Management*
Settings: Set up which parts you would like to contain in your dashboard. Enter business information like for state taxes and so on.
Partnerships and Sponsors: So far I have received a partnership with Dress for Success. Interested in getting some store leads. Instead of wasting clothes and reselling it to reseller who can't sell it donate it to us! Swag bags, fashion shows, styling events, there are so many opportunities with a list of partnerships and sponsors.
Event Management: Dress for Success isn't the only hosting events, we will be too which the customer/user can gain point by attending along with challenges to win points.
How we built it
At first I tried to do backend work with Java, but I am more of a frontend so I used RavenDB Cloud Dev Tier because I messed up the free one. Then Figma and retools. Say if I were to actually building this I would choose react.js or Bootstrap framework. It's just getting past the obstacles of the backend. Although I ran into major bugs, I really enjoy walking through learning how to use RavenDB very intuitive!
Challenges we ran into
Oh Lord, I think I reinstalled Raven DB on my computer 100 times and then 20 times on Docker. Not only that I believe I messed something up in my zsh! No worries, Retool a free tool here that still requires code and understanding of data. My goal is to show women empowerment and the power of imagination no matter how much you think it won't work or you're not capable. I want people to believe anyone can do code and pull down the stereotypes that you have to be x, y, z to work in technology.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
partnership with local Dress for Success Atlanta.
What we learned
noSQL, docker, data modeling, automation, alloy, customer journey, agile process, time management
What's next for $ellOut
If I were to rank or win an honorary spot I would love to do some customer development and speak with retail companies about buying surplus stock (similar to Marshall's and Ross) to be used on my first customer and users that I would research into. Most importantly celebrate and bring awareness to the issues of poverty, homelessness, and being neurodivergent in the workplace.
