TheBusinessNetwork

💡 Inspiration

Have you ever heard of someone saying that being an entrepreneur or running a business is easy? Never! Because it takes a lot of practice to attain the self-discipline and determination to even flourish a thought process for handling small business problems and challenges. Being a small business owner is not a simple gameplay but it’s a long run on an arcade filled with unexpected hurdles.

Some of the major problems they face are the lack of proper marketing, maintaining an online presence, and retaining customers. It is sometimes difficult for them to get information on competitors, consumer preferences, and current trends. These all factors decide the fate of the small-scale business.

To make the road ahead easier for these small businesses our team brainstormed and came up with TheBusinessNetwork. On our website, the User can either log in as a customer or vendor and list the shops/small businesses/vendor names or register themselves as a merchant. We are providing a direct interface where customers can buy directly from small businesses/vendors. We are providing an indirect interface where small businesses/vendors can collab with a big firm and can sell their products to big firms.

💻 What it does

Our web app TheBusinessNetwork is built with the following features:

  • User can log in as a Consumer or a Vendor.
  • Consumers can search for products and add them to their cart.
  • Small or medium-sized businesses can register as a merchant and sell their products.
  • Vendor can also sell their products to any big business.

⚙️ How we built it

  • Frontend: HTML, CSS, and Js
  • Backend: Django
  • User Auth: Auth0

🔐 Best Use of Auth0

We utilized the Auth0 authentication system for user sign-in since we wanted to make an incredibly secure application. Auth0 offers the most complete capabilities to ensure user authentication and authorization with thorough data, a wide range of potential providers, and a selection of user-friendly features the developer will genuinely like. We logged in to social networks while constructing the app using Auth0-enabled services like Google.

🧠 Challenges we ran into

  • Completing the project was challenging because we had to implement the project by a deadline.
  • It was my first time learning how to use Django with Frontend and creating a backend with it.
  • It was my first time using Auth0 for user authentication for different portals.

🏅 Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We are proud of the fact that we were able to complete the project in the given time.
  • We are proud of the fact that we were able to make different portals for Consumers and Vendors.

📖 What we learned

  • How to use Django with Frontend.
  • Problems faced by small businesses.

🚀 What's next for TheBusinessNetwork

  • Building a mobile app.
  • Adding filters to the search bar.
  • Adding more features.
