Inspiration
Our inspiration came from the struggles we faced in this hackathon itself. We had to change our idea many times as we continued to run into problems. We hit a point where we felt very frustrated, disappointed, and overwhelmed. We wished that we had a random buddy to talk to, somewhere to organize our tasks, or a place to let it all out. Thus, EverExisting was born.
What it does
This is a safe space to chat with an emotional support buddy, keep yourself on track with daily checklists (no matter how small), and scream your thoughts out when you need to.
How we built it
We developed the front end with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript using BootStrap. The backend was developed with Python and JSON.
Challenges we ran into
We had difficulties when it came down to integrating the chatbot with the UI. Unfortunately, we did not have all the correct permissions on our laptops that we needed, so we had to put that feature on hold for now.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are most proud of our ability to pick ourselves back up, restart, and present a project (even if it hasn't yet reached what we would like it to)
What we learned
We learned more about BootStrap, the difficulties of API integration, that we need some more work on mobile development, and python is fun!
What's next for EverExisting
In the future, we would like to continue our work on finishing the ChatBot and integrating it with our UI. We would also like to explore more customization such as picking from one of many emotional support buddy avatars/names and color themes. Additionally, we would like to implement a database to add a Tracker page where you can track your moods, progress towards goals, and health statistics (hours of sleep, liters of water drank, etc). Moving to a mobile app would also be great!!
