Inspiration

I've always wanted to blend my love for astronomy with technology in some way and surely this is the main inspiration behind this work.

What it does

This ExPace AR lets you explore our solar system up close. It also contains a few asteroids.

How I built it

I built it using spark AR studio on windows. I've created 3D models of planets, sun, rings, and asteroids using Blender and I've also added few bits of Javascript to control their rotations.

Challenges I ran into

I'd say the main challenge for me was to control their rotations. It took me a while to get it done.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I finally made it to work with each planet having their specific rotations, that's a huge accomplishment for me. Yay!

What I learned

I'm still quite new to Spark AR studio plus I'm also not very good at blender either so yeah, I learned how you can make amazing stuff with spark AR. Apart from learning, I also got to know some awesome people from the community and got to learn a lot from them.

What's next for ExPace AR

I started this work with a thought to allow the user to go to different planets and explore then even up closer. Maybe options to go to different solar systems. But I think these are quite far away for me now. My next work would be to allow users to explore individual planets or at least show planet specific information in fun ways.
