Inspiration
We needed an objective that would offer greater convenience to PNC banking customers without compromising on security. As an international team, we faced unique challenges distinct from those encountered by US customers in the realm of banking. However, we are 'ENGINEERS'. We brainstormed and recollected all the phases involved in the daily banking system from the customer's perspective. We even made multiple visits to the PNC team to understand the challenges their customers faced with the services. By this time, we had an inkling that senior citizens encountered considerable difficulty with increased reliance on technology. Thus, we began engaging with a few seniors. Although no one explicitly voiced this concern, when we introduced the concept of 'Cardless ATM transactions,' they found it intriguing and expressed a desire to try it out.
While we initially sought a challenging problem to solve, the enthusiastic response from people spurred us to reinvent the ATM transaction process for their convenience. Now, we witness numerous instances of this brilliant project idea being put into practice.
What it does
It does provide ATM facility without the need of card.
How we built it
We built it using AWS rekognition and React
Challenges we ran into
We maintain a high confidence interval to minimize incorrect facial detections. Even if the wrong face is detected, the user still needs to enter the PIN, which is only permitted three guesses.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Project is in working state :)
What we learned
Convenience without compromising security
What's next for F-ATM
Our aim is to conduct sentiment analysis on the user's face to detect potential hijacking attempts and alert banking authorities to minimize the risk of robbery scenarios.
