Inspiration

We were tired of seeing people getting away with stealing what's not theirs!!!! We decided to build a DECENTRALIZED network!! This means that all our information is not only displayed publicly, but also payment transactions are done using a smart contract, which all in all means more freedom for the user. We had a vision where if every aspect of the internet was "decentralized" freedom over the globe in the form of internet would be limitless. We took inspiration from the famous Television Show: "Silicon Valley", where the main characters dream is to build a decentralized internet.

What it does

Facts Return provide an online web interface for users to calculate their taxes / prepare the individual Form 1040 for the year and use blockchain to pay for the service.

How we built it

Facts Return was built on Scaffold-ETH 2 and a Flask of tears and prayers. It utilizes hardhat and Next.js.

Challenges we ran into

80% of our team was new to both Web3 and AI. It was an ambitious task, introducing everyone on the team to new technologies and frameworks.

We had difficulty in deploying our project to Vercel due to build errors with Yarn, but marched on to create a minimum viable product that can calculate the amount of tax due or the tax refund for the year 2023.

We learned about Web3, contracts, and learned so many new technologies, including how to use LangChain.

What's next for Facts Return

In the future, Facts Return will have a chat AI that will allow users to have a conversation to determine their tax due or refund, use Web3 to process payment for the service, and prepare a fully done Form 1040.
