Inspiration

We were inspired by services such as goodfood that make at home cooking easier through planned meals and pre-prepared ingredients.

What it does

FINDine connects a community through redefining the "restaurant" experience. It allows users to choose their desired dishes from their favourite local restaurants and allows them to scroll through user input copy cat similar recipes. Reducing the impact of the restaurant industry, FINDine facilitates the cooking process by not only providing a platform for recipe sharing, but also finding the required ingredients at the local grocery store and calculating the cart total, making fine dining accessible to all.

We built it using the following technologies/ languages:

Challenges we ran into

We had challenges with WIX, as it was our first time using it.
The tutorials by WIX ran on previous versions of the website.
Transferring code to WIX since we had implemented the data scraping on Python but WIX required JavaScript
WIX only allowed one person at a time to edit the website, making dividing tasks harder.

What did we learn

We learned some Javascript.
We learned web scraping.
We learned that it is important to verify the languages that a platform such as WIX supports before using the said platform.

What's next for FINDine

In terms of additional features regarding the ingredient shopping component, FINDine would like to implement a cost comparison feature, where the cost of the required ingredients of a recipe can be compared amongst grocery stores. FINDine would also like to allow users to list the ingredients that they already have such as to not add them to the estimate cost of the cart. In terms of food experience, FINDine would like to add ratings to the recipes submitted. That way, the users will be able to judge whether the dish they cooked resembled the dish they wanted to imitate. This will allow FINDine to suggest homemade options that resemble as closely as possible dishes from their favourite restaurants.
