Inspiration

It is seen commonly that most people, especially in India, stay away from investing in the stock market because of the lack of proper knowledge of the same. This gives a scope of developing a system that makes the user aware of and to invest in the stock market.

What it does

What is FinnEasy? FinnEasy is a stock trading application, which helps general users, to enter the world of investment through the gamification model.

App provides a stage to get users ready for investment and keeps their interest by giving reward points at each stage which can be redeemed to get cool and better offers.

As users the app, it starts suggesting what the user should purchase or not, based on cash flow analysis.

Through this strategy, the general users will enter in share market, where they invest their money, save on unwanted cravings, and also win rewards from their favourite brands.

Also, the app provides a platform similar to Twitter but focused on the share market, sharing trends of companies and results, so that industry experts could spread knowledge.

How we built it

We built a mobile application using Flutter, and Spring Framework secured by JWT Authorization. MySql Database is used for this purpose. Moreover, the Data Analysis part was done in python. And services are Hosted on a 4GB RAM Azure Virtual Machine.

Challenges we ran into

The first challenge was to integrate stocks streaming data into the app, but due to time constraints, we added a registered companies list, from which by performing fuzzy searching we got the and used in-app web view to showcase the listings.

The Second Challenge was to think about the business logic itself, when to give users rewards, and how it can be more attractive to users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Introduction of rewards system into the Demat account.
  • KYC Verification using Aadhar Card OCR.
  • Referral Invites System.
  • Cash Flow Analysis using users messages.

What we learned

We learnt how tweets play a vital role in changing stock values, and how a proper investment business logic works. Also how important it is to be able to teach investors about the value of stock investing, and how, without it, companies would solely focus on making profits at the expense of the environment and their workers.

What's next for FinnEasy!

Currently, FinnEasy doesn't have real-time data from stocks, so we hope to add more tickers in our data sets in the near future, as well as make it more mobile and tablet friendly, so we could teach more investors or budding investors about Mutual funds investing and how to check whether the companies they have invested in are truly moral and ethical.
