This project inspired us to think more about the use cases of AI within healthcare. Furthermore, it’s made us think about how small teams can remain agile.

What it does

Fluency Med is a comprehensive and affordable MedTech AI chat service that streamlines administrative tasks, provides diagnostic support, offers quality control for clinical knowledge, and enhances online care user experience, empowering physicians to deliver the best possible care.

How we built it

  • We are using flutter flow to provide the patient and physician interfaces
  • OPENAI, GPT, PINECONE, and LLAMA-INDEX for transcription, summarization, vector database storage solution, and document generation for semantic search.

Challenges we ran into

  • Secure live video call channel
  • Patient and Physician apps in separate interfaces
  • NLP ML model process flow for data-backed suggestive features on follow-up questions, diagnosis, treatment, and medication recommendations. Rather than being the competitor for accuracy, we honed in on supplementing patients and physicians additional medical domain knowledge using semantic analysis and index similarity search.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Developing an end-to-end solution that addresses the issue of physician burnout while also improving patient outcomes.
  • Creating a chatbot that handles administrative tasks such as scheduling and documentation to alleviate the burden on physicians.
  • Offering a paid model, Concierge Care, that provides diagnostic assistance and comprehensive service in billing, documentation, and administrative work, appointment process, and doctor diagnosis assistance via leading questions and specialized clinical research paper-based key findings.
  • Enhancing patient access to quality care by addressing provider shortages and improving the overall well-being of healthcare professionals. ## What we learned
  • The importance of addressing the issue of physician burnout and dissatisfaction in the healthcare industry.
  • The potential impact that AI technology can have on improving patient outcomes and enhancing the patient experience.
  • The need for comprehensive and affordable solutions that streamline administrative tasks and provide diagnostic support to alleviate the burden on physicians. ## What's next for Fluency Med
  • Further development and refinement of the MedTech AI chat service.
  • Expansion of the service to reach more independent providers, associations, and healthcare software providers.
  • Collaboration with organizations like SoftTeq to secure alpha customers, letters of intent, and fundraising.
  • Continued efforts to enhance patient access to quality care and improve the well-being and satisfaction of healthcare professionals.

Business Model

The business model for the Fluency Med services is a dual strategy involving both a paid subscription model for patients and a business-to-business (B2B) model for healthcare providers. Services include billing, documentation, administrative work, appointment processes, and diagnostic assistance via semantic search on knowledge database. We focus on selling the service to independent providers, associations, and healthcare software providers, and we help affluent individuals with their specific needs on getting to know their medical needs better while making their process more efficient.

Proof of Market Fit

Fluency Med services addresses several critical challenges in the healthcare industry, demonstrating a strong market fit. The service helps to reduce physician burnout by streamlining administrative tasks, a common issue in healthcare. It improves patient outcomes by offering diagnostic support and enhancing the online care user experience. By improving physician satisfaction and attracting more medical students to primary care, the service demonstrates that it meets both industry and user needs. Further evidence of market fit comes from its affordability, which appeals to cost-conscious consumers, and the comprehensive nature of its solutions, which fulfill the desire for a one-stop healthcare service.

Traction

Traction for the Fluency Med services is demonstrated by the numerous activities and initiatives already in progress. Interviews between patients and providers, discussions with pilot customers, and online marketing efforts have generated interest and potential customers. The pilot group, the Christian healthcare group, consisting of 180 physicians serving an estimated patient base of 6,000, showcases the service's operational feasibility. Furthermore, collaborations with healthcare and incubator organizations to help in securing alpha customers, letters of intent, and fund-raising, showing that the service is gaining momentum in the market.
