Studying isn’t hard because people lack motivation—it’s hard because distractions, poor planning, and burnout quietly kill focus. We wanted to build an AI that studies with you, not just tells you what to do.
What it does
FocusPal AI is a smart study buddy that plans focused sessions, adapts to your energy levels, blocks distractions, and nudges you back on track using real-time AI guidance.
How we built it
We built FocusPal AI using a modern web stack with an LLM at the core to understand goals, schedules, and focus patterns. It integrates task planning, timers, and adaptive prompts into a simple, distraction-free UI.
Challenges we ran into
Designing AI nudges that felt helpful—not annoying—was hard. Balancing simplicity with intelligence and keeping the experience fast while using AI in real time were key technical challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a fully working AI-driven focus coach in hackathon time
- Created adaptive study plans instead of static timers
- Delivered a clean, calming UX users actually want to keep open
What we learned
Small, well-timed interventions matter more than complex features. AI works best when it quietly supports users instead of overwhelming them.
What's next for FocusPal AI
We plan to add calendar integrations, deeper focus analytics, mobile support, and personalized long-term learning plans—turning FocusPal AI into a daily productivity companion.
