Inspiration
- everyone consumes an incredible amount of social media, but we don't see things that matter to us.
- how can we create a platform where people ONLY see things that matter to them?
- how can we use AI to unlock the potential of this problem?
What it does
- FOP is a geo-based community message board, were members can participate in topics of interest within their social spheres
- keep your Finger On (the) Pulse
How we built it
- NextJS framework w/ Tailwind
- Mapbox API map
- Firebase data storage
- OpenAI API relevancy function
- Vercel deployment and CI
Challenges we ran into
- the .tech domain was hard to work with, we ran into issues with the DNS propagation, and had to get support
- calculations with lat and long coordinates were difficult to manage when trying to center the map
- making the UI responsive to both desktop and mobile screen was a challenge late into the process
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- good animation on the front-end, very intuitive UI
- learning about prompt engineering, deepening understanding of GPI AIs
- interactions were able to be made very fun and satisfying, making the project fun to play with and use
What we learned
- Learned about applying design thinking, and systems thinking, and how to interpret AI through those lenses
- Learned about how to apply AI technology and useful and productive ways
What's next for FOP
- We want to improve the robustness of the content relevancy classification, and want to integrate a content filtering function to promote safe community interactions
Built With
- chatgpt
- firebase
- javascript
- mapbox
- nextjs
- openai
- tailwindcss
