Reduce Food waste, improve spending habits, track food usage and share unwanted food

What it does

Scan in barcodes to identify foods, provide use by dates and allow sharing of unwanted food within a group or 'bubble' of people living locally

How we built it

Android app using dart and flutter, uses barcode reading APIs to find details about a product from its barcode and allow this to be shared with other local app users as well as allowing you to search for food other people are giving away

Challenges we ran into

Android emulation doesn't allow camera access on our PCs, so compile and test time significant. Some team members have little app development experience

What we learned

Gained experience integrating a database with an app. Learned how to use Google Sign-in, accessing camera and gallery from an Android app and use Dart with Flutter.
