Inspiration
We were interested in this track for the opportunity for creative expression in the form of a horror movie trailer
What it does
As it is, our project presents users with a sequence of cards to represent each part of a storyboard. Users may input a text prompt into each card, which will be passed to Dall-E 3 in order to generate a fitting storyboard in that card.
How we built it
We used SvelteKit as our framework, and used TypeScript as our main programming language. We implemented image generation using OpenAI's API with Dall-E 3.
Challenges we ran into
One of our prospective team members ended up being unable to come to the hackathon, leaving us with one less member. We also took some time to decide exactly which track we wanted to follow, which delayed the start of our coding.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Not everyone on the team was familiar with or had used Svelte, SvelteKit, TypeScript, or APIs before, so being able to get this far in a new framework and to gather experience with new tools is something to be proud of.
What we learned
We gathered experience about Svelte, SvelteKit, TypeScript, and APIs. Alongside that, we gathered experience about collaboration and teamwork, as well as the importance of planning and communication.
What's next for FrightFrames
We're personally interested in this project, and it hasn't been fully finished in our eyes, so we may go towards continuing work on it to implement our planned features and polish it up. We plan to add functionality where the descriptions of the generated images in the storyboard will be put together and a new API will generate a horror movie trailer based on them.
