🧩 Inspiration
Remember the craze, when the Pokemon Go first launched for our mobiles. We spend our days all around catching pokemons and earning points. Keeping the craze alive we launch our all new Garden-Go where instead of catching pokemons we need to capture new plant species ( which you do by planting them). The more you plant the more points you get. Let the plantation drive begins!! .
What it does
🪴 Plantation Drive: Capture yourself with the plant you have just planted and get points based on species and whether you have planted a new species or not, it has an integrated face authentication that authenticates your face as well, so that we know it's you planting it.
🌱Species recognition: Not sure what's the plant species name you are going to plant no worries check it on our app
♻️RecycleTeller: Came across some garbage while on your little discover tour and cannot identify whether this garbage comes under recyclable or non-recyclable check it here and extend your little help in saving the environment
🛠 How we built it
We built it following the rest structure by making Restful APIs using Fast API and hosted them on the cloud and built frontend mobile application using flutter. We used Google Cloud Storage for hosting images and Cockroach DB for our database we`ve also integrated Custom Vison, Plant.id, Face Verification models to our application.
🎯 Challenges we ran into
As we used Fast API which runs over ASGI and we generally used WSGI apps so we got the main issue in hosting it but after figuring out the issue we resolved it quickly.
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating full-fledged application, backend server in such a little time, also able to integrate tools we`ve using for the first time.
📖 What we learned
We learned lots of things while making this project, like hosting ASGI applications, Google Cloud Platform SDKs, cockroach DB, etc.
⛳️ What's next for Garden Go
We can add more ways of giving points based on the plantation, keeping plants coordinates. Adding some new features like searching plant species nearby and a lot more.
