Inspiration
We wanted to make it easier for travelers to eat well without losing time or money hunting for compatible ingredients, while keeping to their diets.
What it does
It helps backpackers find nearby supermarkets, compare ingredient prices, and discover recipes that fit their dietary needs.
How we built it
We combined a location-based API, a recipe database, and real-time pricing data into a mobile-friendly web app.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating multiple APIs and ensuring consistent ingredient naming across regions was a nightmare.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a working system that personalizes recipes and ingredient sourcing for any location in the world.
What we learned
Data normalization and UI simplicity matter more than fancy features when users are hungry and tired.
What's next for Global Bites
Using Agentic AI to track user's habits and suggest diets, healthier options and ensure that they are eating the right amount of calories for the amount of steps they are taking while backpacking.
