Inspiration
Improving dinning experiences, whether its for environmental, economical, or social reasons felt extremely important. Food has been universally important throughout history and civilizations around the world, so being able to improve the dinning experience felt extremely important
What it does
Grapefood uses co:here's text generation and text similarity apis to recommend food and to pair people with similar food interests.
How we built it
Using a combination of Co:here's API and Velo by Wix, we were able to connect the two using javascript
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges were mainly related to Wix and trying to figure out how we could create a forums section for students, assign accounts, and collect information about consumers from forums.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Staying awake the whole time of the Hackathon, eating the 1.5 million Scoville hot sauce, and getting Wix to work with the Co.here API.
What we learned
We learned how to integrate flask to combine front-end and back-end.
What's next for Grapefood
We want to be able to have restaurants contact us so that we don't have to manually add them to our database. Our current plans are to start in downtown Montreal, but eventually, if our service proves to be useful to restaurant owners, we could easily grow throughout Canada
