Inspiration

Being a college student, it is very easy to become overwhelmed in the amount of work there is for classes and extracurriculars. This often leads to the neglection of the necessary steps to live healthy lives, such as exercising, sleeping, monitoring screen time, and eating well.

What it does

We built GritIT so that individuals can be motivated to stay healthy. This application encourages individuals to compete with their friends by tracking each of the individuals steps, sleep, screen time, and meals. It outlines a leaderboard that ranks you against all your friends based on the data collected.

How we built it

We built GritIT using HTML and CSS on Visual Studio Code. The code creates a draft of how the application will look as a website, and as a general framework of how the app would look like once it is built.

Challenges we ran into

This was the first hackathon for all of the members in the team, therefore, it was difficult to navigate around everyone's skills to create a product. We were unable to replicate how the data monitored would be retrieved from the user's phone. The data replicated on the website was sample data that was hardcoded.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have created a framework of the application we were hoping to create as a website. It is a basic outline that incorporates the main aspects of our product.

What we learned

We learned how to use GitHub and Git to collaborate on the project together. We also learned certain aspects of HTML and CSS to put together the website.

What's next for GritIT

GritIT will now be made into a mobile application that will retrieve all the data monitored from the user's phone to rank all your friends on a leaderboard. There will also be a way for the user to upload pictures of their meals.
