It all began with an idea for a connect between reality and fantasy. An Arduino and a track behind a laptop screen guide a ball down to its finish line, but it is stopped mid way to make time for the Rube Goldberg-esque processes which take place in Unity. Modeling and building took much longer than expected. By the time we started working on the Unity side of things, we had very little done. We are also fairly new to Unity and took on a large project to start with to really get more than just our feet wet in the field of virtual development. We are extremely proud of our Arduino powered track, which proved itself solid repeatedly throughout the day. We are also fairly proud of our 3D models and our first major attempt at creating something notable in Unity. Going forward, we hope to finish the entire project and include more than just one or two events in the virtual side of things. We also aim to expose children to the possibilities of combining building blocks like Lego bricks and technology.
