Inspiration
We needed a better way to reach entertainment professionals in a highly volatile and constantly changing ecosystem of employment
What it does
We use IMBd web scraping along with other custom information from the job seekers to ensure an up to date and always relevant tool for employers to feel ensured that their candidate's information is as close to reality as possible.
How I built it
We ran the web scrapper using Cheerio and MongoDB and connected it to React for the views.
Challenges I ran into
We had some challenges connecting to the DB in real time so had to run scrapping ahead of time and populate data to ensure immediate availability
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Was able to tie everything together that I had been learning for React, was able to style the application with teammates in a way that was sleek and user friendly. Very proud with how reactive and responsive it turned out.
What I learned
I learned that it was important to focus on the highest value items first and ensure that the highest value is obtained
What's next for HAK
The next steps are improving the scrapping, increasing the factors that allow the employer to narrow down the field as much as possible. We would also increase support
