Inspiration

We were inspired by apps like partiful, microsoft outlook and google calendars! We noticed a big trend among our peers of scheduling down almost every hour of the day with activities and thought that people in our age group, college students, were missing some of the spontaneity of the hangouts that people used to have.

What it does

Our app concept is designed for people to easily create 'hangouts' on the fly and to send push notifications to friends that you have added. These notifications include the hangout name, time, and location!

How we built it

We built this mockup using Figma.

Challenges we ran into

This is our first design-a-thon, and our first time using Figma! It was a great learning experience and we are super grateful to have the opportunity to participate in something that allowed us to explore a field that we are interested in. Our biggest challenge was definitely learning how to use Figma and build an aesthetically pleasing app interface.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud that we were able to build something that looks really good!

What we learned

We learned the fundamentals of Figma and how Hackathons and Designathons worked!

What's next for Hangouts App

We hope that this project idea blooms into something more concrete and perhaps into an actual app launch! We are both interested in software and engineering, so we are both super interested in making our app into something more!
