Inspiration
Recently, one of our team members had a leg injury. This inspired us to build something for those people out there who had to suffer an injury, and help them find the cause, and also provides them with the right exercises after their treatment to ease their pain and recover back stronger. Isn't health the greatest wealth!
What it does
This website helps you identify the cause of your pain, and provides you with a series of exercises to manage the problem and ease your pain. We know, after your injury, moving again can be very painful, but we will help you with the right exercises to turn your pain into power. We provide you all the resources you need in one place. You can take a quick short quiz which will tells you the cause and condition of your injury and its severity. It also provides you with further information, images and videos targeting your treatment. If you already know your injury and have been receiving treatment, you can browse through our wide collection of rehabilitation exercise videos and filter them based on the injured area.
How we built it
Our website Heal Me, is built on the Flask framework and hosted on Heroku servers. The entire code has been developed using Python and JS. The frontend is designed using HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap. App was deployed using Heroku. The entire contents has been developed from credible sources online like Mayo Clinic, Mercy Health Clinic and various other orthopedic clinics. It was proof read by a doctor and a physiotherapist.
Challenges we ran into
Finding a doctor and a physiotherapist within the given time frame to check the credibility of our contents was really hard. Website crashing, and coping up with the timezone difference of our team members.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of learning new skills, hosting a website that can help people, getting the quiz to work, designing our webpage, a working color scheme and finally getting it work within the given the time crunch with beginners on the team.
What we learned
We learned a lot new Front end and Backend development tools. Learned how to handle different crashing errors. Also learned about a lot of injuries, its causes, and different exercises to keep you strong.
What's next for Heal Me
This is a free website and in the future we might add premium features like one-on-one doctor sessions that will require a subscription, or promotional links to good clinics. Currently none of the youtube videos added in our website are of paid promotion. We hope Heal Me helps everyone ease their physical pain and recover back stronger.
