Inspiration

With HealthBand, we wanted to empower the customer to prevent and deal with medical emergencies quickly and effectively. Essentially, there were two main problems we saw:

1) Currently, most patients do not maintain optimal habits to improve long term health due (negligence, lack of discipline, or insufficient eating / medicinal habits). This increases chances of health deterioration!

2) If an Emergency does arise, the methods to deal with such a horrific scenario simply aren't fast enough!

What it does

It connects a chronic or a general medical patient with their family members and doctors and help them to avoid the emergency situations as much as possible! In summary:

To Prevent Emergencies from occuring, we: 1) Provide Reminders for Medicines 2) Provide a file management system, to store all of your Medical Files, in one place 3) Keep track of your health metrics (heart rate, steps taken, sleep, etc)

To Deal with Emergency situations, our app: 1) Automatic Alerts Family and 911 2) Provides a Digital Medical Card for Nearby Respondents through a QR Code 3) Provides your Doctor with Access to all of your Medical Files

How we built it

We designed a prototype website for now using Wix. We also utilized CSS, HTML, React, Bootstrap, Webflow, and Machine Learning.

Challenges we ran into

The backend part, and machine learning part to analyze the heart beat of a patient to determine if emergency situation or not. Also learning React and Django but we had fun in the process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We all team members loved the idea of how it connects the people that really need attention of their loved ones. We are glad that we came up with an idea that has high potential to be among the consumers one day.

What we learned

We learned React, Django, Wix and some machine learning techniques in the process

What's next for HealthBand

We still hope to improve this further! One main function that we plan to include is the machine learning technique to actually analyze the heart beat of a patient and to automatically alert their family members in emergency situation.
