Inspiration
Our project's inspiration is the safety of our friends and family.
What it does
Help Me sends the coordinates of the users location at a buttons click or through the app or through the dialer to trusted contacts during times of danger.
How we built it
We built the application using Android Studio. Target API 9.0 so that it can target a large audience.
Challenges we ran into
- Setting up Listener for the Power Button.
- Setting up Listener for the Dialer.
- Storing the contact details.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Sending the users location just by pressing the power button twice. Immense knowledge gained.
What we learned
Use of BroadcastReceiver, Services, LocationManager .
What's next for Help Me
Developing the iOS version of this application. Setting up the service for PowerButton.
