Inspiration

Create a quality of life application/feature to allow people to adjust lights without the need of standing up. This allows an alternative to the home voice assistant, allowing a wide variety of people to make their life more accessible to them.

What it does

Allows the utilization of intuitive gestures to adjust the brightness of lights, such as any smart-bulbs or displays on monitors and laptops.

How we built it

With Python, Arduino ino, C, Cockroach DB, Go, MediaPipe

Challenges we ran into

  • Figuring what to use, many things we attempted to use failed due to poor documentation, poor performance, and installing necessary material.
  • Understanding how exactly a neural network works ## Accomplishments that we're proud of
  • Getting the application to recognize the hand gestures.
  • Allowed the ability to change the brightness of the display using these hand gestures with dynamic motion. ## What we learned
  • A basic understanding of how neural networks, machine learning, deep learning, and large language models worked
  • An idea of how to train a machine model
  • How to use new libraries like MediaPipe ## What's next for Lights, Camera, Action!
  • Use gestures to modify the temperature of your home.
