Inspiration
I love eating homemade meals/baked goods as well as sharing mine with others -- I wanted to create a way to enable people to share their favorite kitchen creations while also benefiting society.
What it does
Homemade is an on-demand, nonprofit bakesale which connects people who love to bake with those who love to eat in order to raise money for America's hungry.
How I built it
I built the app on iOS using ObjectRocket as the backend with Parse to manage user accounts.
Challenges I ran into
Time is always a huge challenge -- I had so many features that I wanted to add in and perfect, but had to balance adding new things with the approaching deadline
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Shipping this version! I sometimes struggle to get an app off my computer and into others' hands, so I'm glad this opportunity came up.
What I learned
I learned a ton about custom iOS transitions -- I hadn't had the opportunity to spend too much time on them before this project and really enjoyed the extra touch they added to the app
What's next for Homemade
I plan to add in more user-specific features, including improving the feedback system and communication between users. Also, I'd like add a "like"-feature which allows users to favorite baked goods and share on social media.
