Inspiration
If we are planning to go on a long vacation then booking hotels is often very expensive and we may want to rent a house than HomeStay is a perfect solution for your problem.
Yes, there are some rental booking applications but there are some problems with them like:
1.Users have to completely depend upon third parties. 2.Third parties have the complete control over managing the app code and transactions. 3.Both the landlords and the tenants have to blindly trust upon the highly abstracted Revenue models of applications. 4.Tenants also have the issues of Spending high payments and are being comprised in finding the right valued houses for their money.
So, our inspiration is to solve this existing problem which may help others and at the end rental booking system will become reliable.
What it does
HomeStay is a decentralized P2P home rental service application. Features:
- Tenants can host their houses
- Users can view call available Rooms
- Users can filter rooms based on their location.
- Users can see the location of the rooms in embedded map.
- Users can book rooms by paying the requested amount of ether.
How we built it
We have built it using react in the frontend and blockchain for the backend.
Challenges we ran into
we faced some issues while using blockchain as we are completely new to it. Google maps API's are not free anymore. so, we had to write custom logic for maps functionality.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We proud of completing this project in time.
What we learned
Working under pressure
What's next for HomeStay
We will be building profile page where users can see their bookings or their hosted rooms. We will be adding a feature where user can cancel his/her booking at any time.
