Inspiration
We came into this hackathon with the intention of solving a problem that we all face. We didn’t know what our problem would be, but we were determined to make something that we and all of our peers would not just use, but draw great value from. While recounting some problems we’d recently faced, we picked up on the common link of communication, specifically in the area of sports and coordinating pickup basketball games. Driven by the fact that we’d faced the problem ourselves and committed to finding the most innovative and efficient solution, we dove straight into building an app that users could utilize to build connections with people in the real world.
What it does
- Enables users to browse pickup games in their area that are starting soon
- Provides a platform for people to easily bring together and organize other hoopers to play games
- Allows users to interactively join games and build connections with others
How we built it
- Flutter to build the application
- Firebase for backend
- Google Maps API
Challenges we ran into
- Learning Flutter and using it for the first time
- Learning how to use the Maps API
Accomplishments we're proud of
- Being able to bring an operational project into existence
What's next for hoophub
- Cleaning up the aesthetics and publishing our product for use
- Putting up QR codes at local parks and gyms to expand our userbase
