Inspiration

HospitalOnWheels was inspired by the advanced software solutions in healthcare, notably those by companies like Palantir, which specialize in medical scheduling. However, we noticed a significant gap in services for individuals outside of hospital settings, particularly for travel nurses and at-home care. This gap hit close to home when one of our grandmothers struggled with missed medications due to the absence of a tailored care system. This personal connection and the clear industry need drove us to create HospitalOnWheels.

What it does

HospitalOnWheels is a revolutionary platform that connects patients with travel nurses through a seamless interface. Patients upload their medical records and select the required services, and our system matches them with qualified nurses who provide specialized care directly at their homes. This service ensures that high-quality healthcare is accessible and convenient for those who need it the most.

How we built it

Our project leverages a robust tech stack, including the OpenAI API for intelligent matching algorithms, Google Maps API for location services, and 11 Labs API for voice-enabled functionalities. The platform's frontend was developed with React, while the backend utilizes Node.js and Express, with MongoDB handling data management. This combination allowed us to build a responsive, efficient, and scalable solution.

Challenges we ran into

Our journey was not without its hurdles. We faced challenges in verifying travel nurses’ credentials and ensuring they were fit for home visits, a crucial aspect for maintaining trust and safety on our platform. Additionally, formulating a sustainable business model that aligned with our mission posed its own set of challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud to have developed a fully functional version of HospitalOnWheels in under 24 hours. This rapid development cycle from concept to prototype demonstrates our team's dedication, technical prowess, and ability to work under tight deadlines.

What we learned

The development of HospitalOnWheels was a profound learning experience. We gained insights into the unique needs of at-home care patients and the operational logistics of coordinating mobile healthcare services. We also learned to navigate the technical and business challenges of launching a healthcare platform.

What's next for HospitalOnWheels

Looking ahead, we plan to expand our verification process for nurses, incorporate more personalized care options, and explore various revenue models to ensure the sustainability of HospitalOnWheels. Our ultimate goal is to make our platform a cornerstone of at-home healthcare, making quality care accessible to everyone, everywhere.
