Inspiration
We wanted to make something that improves the world. Recycling is an important part of sustaining our planet, but sometimes recycling can be confusing.
What it does
Our Revolutionizing eco-conscious decision-making, cutting-edge app instantly determines whether an object is destined for recycling or landfill, empowering users to make sustainable choices effortlessly.
How we built it
In crafting our innovative waste sorting app on StreamLit, we seamlessly integrated state-of-the-art machine learning models with an intuitive user interface, leveraging the power of Python to provide real-time, on-the-go insights into the recyclability of objects, ensuring a seamless and eco-friendly user experience.
Challenges we ran into
Acquiring a diverse and high-quality dataset for training the machine learning model was a significant challenge. Ensuring the model's accuracy across a wide range of objects and materials required a meticulous curation process.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We take immense pride in being conscientious citizens who adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct. It's our commitment to ethical practices that ensures not only the legality of our operations but also our dedication to social and environmental responsibility. Importantly, we want to emphasize that no animals were harmed in any way throughout the entire process of conceptualizing, developing, and implementing our innovative app. Our mission is grounded in sustainability, compassion, and respect for all living beings
What we learned
Dealing with diverse datasets taught us the importance of data quality and its direct impact on the model's performance. We learned to navigate challenges related to data curation, cleaning, and augmentation to enhance the model's accuracy.
What's next
Adapting the app to different languages and waste disposal standards, making it accessible and applicable on a global scale. This involves collaborating with experts in waste management from different regions. Regularly updating and expanding the database to include a wider variety of objects and materials, ensuring the app remains current and effective in diverse environments.
