Inspiration

As long time twitch viewers, we wanted a new way to compare and track our favorite streamers amongst our friend group. Our competitive and analytical nature drove us to create a trading economy based game that brings in real-time streamer data, and allows us to leverage streamers against our friends for an extra layer of stream engagement.

What it does

Hypebid is a new way for Twitch users to see real time changes to streamer statistics, and play with their friends to compete for the most hype streamer portfolio. Hypebid is a new app in development for Twitch enthusiasts to add a level of hype to their normal viewing experience.

The goal of the game is to build and trade stock of streamers to create a portfolio of the most currency (hype). To start, we created micro-economies in the form of micro-hype leagues. These league allow a group of friends to pick a list of their favorite streamers and a time limit, in weeks, and compete for the most hype portfolio.

The first micro-hype league will be going live in november 2024 with a limited number of streamers, with open suggestions and testing to follow. This is a limited time game mode as we develop the full rules and refine playability of the game.

Eventually, we will create a macro-economy that tracks more streamers, with more stream data, to create a worldwide leaderboard and monthly leaderboards. As we gather data from the Leagues, we will create a larger user experience across the Twitch platform.

How we built it

HypeBid was built using AWS hosting, Flutter front-end and GoLang back-end.

What's next for HypeBid

HypeBid is currently in development with the kick-off of Leagues going live November 2024! Follow ruhdacted on Twitch for some insights into the building process, and to catch a stream of the first League testing, soon to come!
