Inspiration

In everyday life, a lot of people have been through hard time of picking the right restaurant for a dinner along an urban street. Although by using Google Map or Yelp, we can get to know nearby restaurants, it is still a pain to switch our attention back and forth between the mobile screen and the real-world street. So we built an app, utilizing AR technology, to render the related information of restaurants directly on the camera view.

What it does

This project is a mobile app that incorporate AR technology to deliver nearby restaurant information right on the camera frame.

How I built it

We used ARKit in swift 4.0, Google Places API, as well as Yelp API.

Challenges I ran into

The time, 12 hours, is way too limited.

What's next for IKnowFood

Design better UI, better means for user interaction, and probably build our own database instead of relying on APIs
