Inspiration
Impact^2 offers a platform for crowd-sourcing projects aimed at enhancing local neighborhoods. The concept revolves around local shops offering special products, with a percentage of each sale contributing to ongoing community projects. This innovative approach stems from a collective vision to realize meaningful improvements within our own community. By fostering collaboration between customers and businesses, we aim to achieve common goals that enrich the local environment and foster a sense of unity.
How We Built It
Our platform is powered by the Square OAuth provider, Catalog API, and webhooks, enabling seamless integration with local businesses. The frontend and backend are developed using technologies including Next.js, shadcnui, Tailwind, and Turborepo. Deployment is streamlined through Sliplane.io using Docker, ensuring reliability and scalability.
Accomplishments We're Proud Of
We took a proactive approach by engaging with shop owners and local residents from the outset to validate our concept. Throughout the development process, we continuously sought feedback from stakeholders, conducting interviews at various stages of prototype maturity. This iterative approach allowed us to integrate valuable insights and ensure alignment with community needs.
What We Learned
Our experience highlighted the robustness of the Square API, underscored by its comprehensive documentation. Furthermore, our interactions reaffirmed the demand for a localized crowdfunding platform tailored to the specific needs of communities.
What's Next for Impact^2
Our next step involves testing the platform within the local community, with a focus on engaging cafes as key stakeholders. By fostering partnerships with cafes and other community hubs, we aim to catalyze widespread adoption and maximize the platform's impact.
