There are many concerns a caregiver has when it comes to the safety and routine of a person with dementia. (Did they eat? Where are they at all times? Did they take their medication? etc,.).
Over the last 30 hours, we talked to caregivers, health professionals and people with dementia to discover that people with dementia forget simple tasks. We sought out to solve this problem by creating a system called Intucare.
Intucare is a system that provides reminders of everyday tasks through using a web app to create a personalized calendar of activities that a person with dementia has throughout the day.
The device is set up in multiple locations in the home and is motion detected when one approaches the device. As the person with dementia goes on with their daily routine and walks by the device, a gentle auto reminder is triggered to remind them of their specific task to be done at suggested time.
The caregiver will then receive a notification, indicating that the device has been triggered during that set time and that the person with dementia has received the reminder.
In the event that the device has not been triggered, the caregiver will receive a notification indicating that the voice message has not been delivered.
Our goal is to make sure that a caregiver has an easy way to manage their life with the person with dementia and have a peace of mind.
