Inspiration
Every single day around lunch, we all get in a group chat and try to find a common place to eat. Then after sending a few messages, you realize one person is at Wendy's, you're at a dining hall, another friend is at a deli.... it's a mess! We made this web app so you can plan where to go with your friends beforehand and find a location you all can agree on.
What it does
Our web app shows you available friends, lets you form a party, and then lets everyone vote on a restaurant so you can find which one works best.
How we built it
We built a basic web app with HTML, JS, and CSS, and then wrote a python backend for storing everyone's information and allowing you to dynamically match with people. We put everything on AWS which lets us keep the python server running and allowed us to see our web app through to its final form.
Challenges we ran into
OAuth! We had never used it before, and it took a while to stop it from spitting back errors
Accomplishments that we're proud of
None of us had previously used AWS, but hearing about how useful it is, we had to check it out. It quickly became the backbone of our project and is absolutely crucial to it's functionality.
What I learned
We all learned how to use OAuth.
What's next for It's Mealtime
