Project Description

Goal

KineSave is a mobile app that helps you lower your electricity bills and reduce your environmental impact. It acts as an intelligent energy companion that plans your appliance usage so you never overspend on power again.

How it works

The process starts with a simple setup where you provide the following details: Users average monthly electricity cost, desired monthly budget, and the cost of electricity. Your geographical location to get accurate weather updates. A list of home devices you use and how often you typically run them.

Once this information is set, the AI splits device usage based on the daily weather forecast. In both the Cost and Eco plans, the AI analyzes which devices are truly necessary for each day. For example, if the weather forecast shows a very cold day, the AI determines that an AC is not necessary and removes its usage time to save money or energy for that day. This ensures your energy plan is always adjusted to your local climate.

Cost Plan: This plan is for users who prioritize saving money. The AI also analyzes your devices to see which ones consume the most power. A custom algorithm then calculates the exact number of hours each device should run daily to ensure you stay strictly under your budget.

Eco Plan: This plan focuses on protecting the environment. The AI identifies which of your devices have high carbon emissions or negatively affect the environment in other ways. It ranks these devices from high to low emission levels. The algorithm then adjusts your usage time to favor cleaner devices while still keeping you within your average monthly spending.

Comfort Plan: This plan is a balanced option. The system algorithm performs calculations to find a middle ground between saving money and being eco-friendly without sacrificing too much of your daily convenience.

How it was built

The app was constructed using modern mobile and artificial intelligence technologies:

The Interface: We used React and TypeScript to create a mobile experience.

The Intelligence: We integrated Amazon Bedrock using the Claude 3 model. This allows the app to process complex data like weather patterns and energy rates to give you smart advice.

The Calculations: We wrote a custom budget allocation algorithm that handles the heavy math locally on your phone. It sorts your devices by priority to make sure essential items always have enough usage.

The Monitoring: A dedicated service checks the weather every hour and sends notifications to your phone if there is a chance to save energy.

What it does

KineSave cuts your electric costs when times are tight, so you don't pay more than needed and there are no surprises on billing day. Because unused gadgets still sip energy, this tool adjusts them for minimal usage. That means fewer fumes added to the air and less harm piling up over years. With zero effort, anyone can lower bills while doing good for Earth.
