Our Vision
Our vision is to empower the unheard voices found all across our globe. In our world, climate advocacies are no longer based on luck and traction, but rather through the continued support and acknowledgement for the entire global community. Through bridging the gap between scientific analysis and creative exploration, we incentivize more people to care about environmental issues as it better appeals to their interests.
Our Mission
Kislap supports all types of artists to give them the means of fighting for their climate advocacies. By providing a place full of support and opportunities for work and funding, we are able to empower these visionaries and their interests.
Problem
At present, there are hundreds upon thousands of niche and sub-divided climate related issues in each country. These issues are not as well known to the average person, yet they are important to the small communities that are negatively impacted by them. It is the role of the artist, documentarist, and filmmaker to shed light on these issues, yet because of socio-economic realities, oftentimes these artists are financially impaired in doing so. Because of this weakness, the breadth and scope of climate change advocacy is limited towards those with the capacity to have their voices be heard. In an ever connected and digitalized world, today is the perfect opportunity to reach those who can make a change, and give them the means of doing so.
Solution
This is where Kislap comes in. Derived from the Filipino Word meaning “Sparkle” or “Flash”, Kislap is a website and organization that aims at providing exposure to art that has the power for transformative change. It is designed for the promotion, incentivization, and streamlined admission for creatives and volunteers alike who wish to actively participate in climate focused initiatives.
Scalability
Currently, the model may be able to establish itself locally, proving its effectiveness in the Philippines. However, once established, it may expand into other countries, fostering a global network of climate storytellers and ambassadors. The topic of climate advocacy will always be unique based on the group of people talking about it. This ensures that the scope of Kislap will cover the entire spectrum of opinions and ideas.
Our Team
We are first-year Filipino college students under ICARUS, the UA&P STEAM team, driven by a shared passion for storytelling, sustainability, and social impact. As a small but dedicated group, we bring together diverse skills and fresh perspectives to bridge the gap between indigenous voices and modern media in the fight against climate change. • Content Lead (Jaron Pomer) – Ensuring our message is clear, compelling, and rooted in real issues. • Prototyping Lead (Johanna Gambe) – Transforming ideas into tangible platforms for engagement. • Editor & Fresh Newbie (Nori Cebritas) – Bringing a keen eye for detail and a fresh perspective to refine our work. From the very beginning, we focused on a user experience-centered approach, making sure that our solution resonates with real communities and empowers climate storytellers. Every brainstorming session, debate, and iteration was shaped by our commitment to building a platform that is accessible, impactful, and deeply connected to those it serves.
