Inspiration
When travelling or moving to a new place, one of the common problem we faced was being unfamiliar with a place and not knowing about the events happening there. So we thought about creating an App where you can meet people near you who are exploring just like you or others who are familiar with the place that's willing to show you around.
What it does
When a new user registers, they fill a form containing all the necessary information such as their interests, languages spoken, and their current city. The App shows you the users in your location and the you can see the posts made by them about events or asking help about general things. If interested the user can reach out to them and plan accordingly.
How we built it
The App has a Front end and a Back end. The Front end is built using Flutter and used Twillio for Phone Number Verification. The Back end is built using ExpressJS, NodeJS and uses CockroachDB for DataBase. The Back end is hosted using Heroku.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We are proud of being able to conceptualize an idea and build a working prototype using different tech stacks and services in a span of 36 hours.
- Although our team members had experience working on their individual tech stacks, we were able to collaborate and make an app using various frameworks and integrate them together.
What we learned
- The importance of planning ahead and deciding about how the data will be managed and the project structured.
