Inspiration
Dr.Wright says it all the time: "Find a problem, and solve it!". So, here we are! Have you ever been in a situation that you wanted to take a look at a specific place but you couldn't because you couldn't afford to be there or there were no cameras to share the view with you? Well, we solved that problem!
What Viedo does
Viedo is a streaming service that users can use to share their live videos with others and get paid in return through a payment channel created by Zixo wallet. Also, watch the live videos that others offer, and pay for the service directly to the service provider. In later updates, a user can put a request, and other users respond, provide the service, and get paid immediately through micropayments.
How we built it
The main structure of Viedo is built based on payment channels and Peer to Peer communication between users. The important thing is when the connection between two users is made, we are done and have further interaction with users to keep the connection up and running. For the payment part, we user the Zixo wallet which is another product of our team(The Koalament Team)
Challenges we ran into
Funding the project is always a challenge at first, but when you find the right people who are willing to earn less for a bigger purpose, things get easier. We also had to create our wallet that has the features we need for this project.
The Bussiness model
Micropayments are one of the main features of Bitcoin, and we have used it in our business model. In Viedo, all the payments occur on the spot, and everyone gets its share of the payment. The service provider(Camera owner) and the Video service each receive part of the payment.
What we learned
One thing that we all learned is to do a good job, you have to know all the aspects f the problem you are addressing, You have to think it through, you need to do the research, then you start coding. Otherwise, you have to recode everything that is not the best approach especially when you are on the clock.
What's next for Viedo
For the sake of the Hackathon, we tried to build an MVP with basic functionality to show we can do the job(we even created a wallet for this). Now, we need to work on more advanced features, UX, and UI.
What's up with the name
One of the hardest parts was to come up with a name. Finally, we tried to be smart with misspelling the Video (which is the gist of our project) to Viedo, maybe too smart :D
