What it does

Last Drop is an Android and IOS app that highly optimizes the device battery by only allowing the user to call or text their emergency contact, book an emergency ride, and give them access to a map within a 10 to 30-mile radius. This app aims to combat fast-draining batteries with an optimized experience. The service we intended to include was a map that zones in on the location of the user's surrounding area, limited calls, and messages to prevent draining the battery. We also planned to offer rides in case of an emergency with the user.

How we built it

We decided to approach this as a multi-platform app. We divided our team into two subgroups. One is working on the IOS app, and the other subgroup is working on the Android app.

Challenges we ran into

We had trouble collaborating on GitHub, connecting our SQL server to our project, importing the map API on the Android project, and learning and implementing Swift, Xcode, and XML syntax.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building a multi-platform application within 24 hours; moreover, the iOS team learned and implemented an application within one night. The initial brainstorming led our team to implement intricate features and push up to think more critically.

What we learned

We learned different ways to push our project into GitHub and collaborate. We also learned Swift, advanced Java, Xcode, AndroidStudio, and their dependencies and libraries. Time management was keen for our group since we had to finish within a set time period.

What's next for Last Drop

Future collaborations, finishing calling and messaging buttons, emergency rides, power saving screen, and auto-messaging feature when your phone is at 2%.
