Inspiration

Our inspiration came from the endless process of trying to understand what exactly jobs want, and more than that, what skills are worth your time to work on. We want to help bridge the gap between aspiring software devs' abilities and their dream career goals.

What it does

Launchpad is a website that allows users to visualize the path to their dream job. Users can upload their resume or manually type their skill set into the website, and then add various job links they're interested in. Using AI, Launchpad finds what qualifications the user is missing and which are most important to focus on, and then generates a personalized, day-to-day roadmap for them. This roadmap can be exported to their calendar for the user to stay on top of their growth.

How we built it

We built this website using React and Typescript. We used Google's Gemini for the AI integration and Jina API to parse text.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating the AI model, parsing websites from the URLs, and getting the correct skills to fill the gaps between the user's skills; Designing the UI and 3D images, and making the roadmap accessible and easy to read; Working with GitHub as a team for the first time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This was our first try at implementing AI into our projects. We're proud of how we persevered when the code wasn't working and that we successfully integrated Gemini to interpret and respond to the user's Resume PDF, text input, and website URLs. Also, we created a 3d animation!

What we learned

We learned how to break down a bigger idea into small parts, how to make mockups with Figma, and how to divide responsibilities. We gained more experience with React, AI integration, and working together with Git in a small time crunch.

What's next for Launchpad

Creating a login and progress tracking system, integrating with existing job searching websites such as LinkedIn, and adding community features to share roadmaps with friends!
